One of the core goals of the SSD (and ETV) is to bring students into contact with companies, which provides the opportunity to gain insight into the industry. The SSD does this by providing lunch lectures, site visits and study tours.

Academia or Industry?

As a student, you will be faced with an important choice: which path will you pursue? Academia or industry? During your studies, you may find that you are already inclined to continue in academic research after your master’s or work on real products in the industry.

To figure out which option best suits you, there will be various events during the year. The SSD will organize lunch lectures and study trips with companies in the Netherlands.
From the university, there will be two matchmaking events each year: one each semester. Here, you will meet professors and PhD students to talk about potential thesis projects. Sometimes, you may find a collaboration project that combines academia and industry.
