On Tuesday May 5th, our group had a fantastic opportunity to visit ELEQ for a company excursion, and it was an insightful experience that perfectly bridged the gap between theory and practice.
During the visit, we got hands-on with the basics of sizing current transformers. Depending on the assignment, students had the chance to size either metering class or protection class CT. It was a great practical exercise, as we also had the opportunity to verify whether our specific designs were correct for the given parameters using a CT analyzer.
To top it all off, we were given a comprehensive tour of their production facility. Seeing the entire manufacturing lifecycle up close, right from scratch, through the assembly process, and all the way to final testing and packing, provided invaluable context for how various components were built.
